The design team's inspiration for the Midst of Light project came from the desire to create a fresh and quiet house feeling. To achieve this, they used gentle and simple wood tones and earth tones as pavements, complemented by gray wooden flooring in a concrete color tone. The use of LED light lines throughout the space adds a profound visual experience, enhancing the overall ambiance.
One of the key strengths of the Midst of Light design is its use of high-quality materials to create spatial tonalities. The space features a semi-open layout, dividing each area while maintaining a sense of openness. The spacious circulation planning, low table cabinets, and countertops contribute to the space's user-friendly nature. In the public area, large and solid curved marble cabinets elevate the quality of the space, creating an ideal modern residential environment.
The realization of the Midst of Light design involved a combination of various elements, including baked painting, perlitic panels, Malay lacquer, iron pieces, wood veneer, and LED lights. The delicate combination of different materials in the same tone creates a rich and diverse impression of the space. Natural sunlight is retained in the space, creating a simple and light feeling, while light-permeable sand curtains add a fresh touch by allowing sunlight to penetrate the space.
The Midst of Light design is not only visually appealing but also considers the practical needs of its residents. The design team aimed to create a senior-friendly space, incorporating features such as low sofas, dining tables and chairs, and low cabinets to ensure convenience and accessibility. The original four-bedroom layout was modified to include a multi-functional reading space, complete with a raised wooden countertop and hidden cabinets for storage, maximizing space efficiency.
In the open public space, the design team enhanced the space's ingenuity by embellishing linear LED lights. During the daytime, the lighting lines, along with the materials, enhance the linear beauty of the space and allow for transparent daylight to fill the rooms. At night, the light lines create a futuristic artistic sense, bringing a strong contrast to the interior. The aesthetic identity of the space undergoes a wonderful transformation, leaving clients highly satisfied.
The Midst of Light project was completed in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. Extensive research went into the design, with a focus on incorporating LED linear lights to create a unique space experience. The design team also installed smart electrical systems to enhance the convenience of the space.
Overcoming challenges such as creating smooth circulation and extending the existing space to be more spacious, the design team successfully achieved their goal of showcasing a simple and fresh feeling of space. The use of fresh earth colors, wood veneer, and gray materials creates a harmonious and visually appealing environment.
The Midst of Light design is a testament to the skill and creativity of Yu Ju Lin and the design team. With its combination of natural-toned woodgrain colors, stone grayscale colors, and white base colors, the retirement home exudes elegance and comfort. The transparent large floor-to-ceiling windows provide ample daylight, injecting a new atmosphere into the overall space.
The Midst of Light design has been recognized for its excellence, receiving the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2022. This prestigious award is a testament to the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. The Midst of Light design truly contributes to a better world through its fulfillment and positive impact.
